My Wall of Fame

Hey everyone, me again. I’m not going to be a rabble rouser this week (darn) but instead talk about something a little closer to home. Actually in my home (G). I have in my home office, one wall that is dedicated to my covers. Everyone one of my book covers, whether they are short story, novella or novel is on that wall. I print them off as soon as my publisher sends them to me, then head to the dollar store and buy a cute (read that a plain wood frame) and hang them up. Right now I have 8 covers on the one wall and the wall immediately next to my desk has my two current covers on it.

Why do I do this you ask? You were going to ask that right? Well, I’ll tell you. I do it to keep myself motivated. To keep moving forward, to be able to see them when I am feeling less than loveable and need a quick pick me up to get me on the right track. And you know we all have those days. Days when the rejections come in faster than the acceptances. Days when the words are stuck in our head and refuse to flow to our fingers. And days when everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

And you know what, it works. Just seeing what I have accomplished is a big deal. I never thought I would be this far into my career, but I am. That alone makes me very happy. Plus knowing that I have books yet to write, characters to create, and plots to peddle doesn’t hurt either.

So, on I go, wandering down that road, talking out loud to myself in an empty room. Answering myself in that same room, and even carrying on conversations with the dog and cat that get nothing more than a yawn and a bored look that says “You woke me for this?” Oh well, if they ever answered me back, that would be a story in and among itself, now wouldn’t it?

Till next time, take care all and remember fingers on the keyboard and butt in the chair will help you to produce!
